Conversion of entanglement between continuous variable and qubit systems

We investigate how entanglement can be transferred between continuous variable and qubit systems. We find that a two-mode squeezed vacuum state and a continuous variable Werner state can be converted to the product states of infinitive number of two-qubit states while keeping the entanglement. The reverse process is also possible. PACS: 03.67.Mn;03.65.Ud

All-fiber Raman Probe using Higher Order Modes

We demonstrate the first all-fiber Raman probe utilizing higher order modes for the excitation. The spectrum of cyclohexane is measured using both the fundamental mode as well as in-fiber-generated Bessel-like modes. © 2013 Optical Society of America OCIS codes: 060.2370, 060.4370.

Weak Coupling and Continuous Limits for Repeated Quantum Interactions

We consider a quantum system in contact with a heat bath consisting in an infinite chain of identical sub-systems at thermal equilibrium at inverse temperature β. The time evolution is discrete and such that over each time step of duration τ , the reference system is coupled to one new element of the chain only, by means of an interaction of strength λ. We consider three asymptotic regimes of t...

Deciding Weak Monadic Second-order Logics using Complex-value Datalog

In this paper we propose to use techniques developed for query evaluation of Complex-value Datalog queries for determining satisfiability of WS1S and WS2S formulæ. This in turn can serve as a decision procedure for Description Logics for which embeddings into WS1S and WS2S have been proposed recently. We show that the use of database query evaluation techniques—in particular the Magic Set rewri...
